Support in Jamaica

Three weeks ago my laptop stopped working. After i had spoken to an advisor from apple online and attempting multiple maneuvers, i was told to carry it in to an apple store. I had a friend who carried it in and they said they had to hold it for at least a week to evaluate the laptop and they do not ship overseas. The urgency of the situation was explained and it remains as I am a final year medical student with papers to produce without a laptop. The apple store advisor then gave me directions to a redistributor in Kingston where he assured me I would get the same standard quality care as I would in any apple store as they are apple trained employees there. Today i went to the store which is now telling me that they have to charge in excess of hundreds of dollars to evaluate and fix my laptop which was logged not once but twice in the apple store as being non functional DURING the warranty period.

I explained the situation to the clerk and they said the directive has to come from apple.

Please assist this situation as without it completion of my course and graduation may be a once held thought.
