Q: iTunes crashes when ripping a CD

I have had iTunes for years, this week I tried to import a couple of my CDs in order to sync with my iPod Nano. Every time I try to import the CD iTunes will get to the end of the 1st track and then crash iTunes. I un-installed and re-installed the latest version of iTunes twice with the same effect. Also trying to open the CD files or dragging and dropping them also crashes iTunes. I tried different CDs with the same result. I started iTunes in Safe Mode with the same result.

I'm running Windows XP. I installed iTunes into another user account on the same computer, and it imported the CDs just fine. However the iPod will only sync to the original iTunes account and that is where I would like to have these new CDs added to. Any help anyone could give would be appreciated. Thanks.
