Aug 13, 2013 12:14 PM in response to Rusty182by laundry bleach,You can contact the Apple Store nearest you and ask them, but I suspect that they will not add RAM. If I were you I would return the iMac and order the one you want. In the future you can only expect applications to get more RAM hungry.
RAM is cheap compared with frustration.

Aug 13, 2013 12:22 PM in response to Rusty182by MichelPM,What are you going to use this iMac for?
If your are planning on running any software that requires a lot a processing power 8 GBs of RAM may not be enough.
You may have to return this iMac and order one with the total 16 GBs of RAM.

Aug 13, 2013 12:41 PM in response to Rusty182by Baby Boomer (USofA),Prior to purchasing my new iMac, I ordered RAM from a 3rd party vendor. When it arrived, I went to an AASP, handed them my 3rd party RAM & they installed it at no charge! I am a repeat customer.
Apple RAM (to max out) cost $600 for my model iMac.
3rd party RAM - $69 to max out.
Like another poster already stated, call your local AS or even an AASP! Not all AS or AASPs are the same when it comes to policy vs customer service/satisfaction. -
Aug 13, 2013 1:35 PM in response to Rusty182by Rusty182,Thanks for the responses guys :)
Ill only really be using it to surf facebook and check email, maybe a bit of twitter :)
Lol only joking, I'll be using it as a picking and packing station for my business by day and for graphic design by night. I don't expect ill be an insanely heavy user, its more just to future proof it. I'd like to not have to buy a new one for a while. I have a Haswell i7 MacBook Air that I use while I'm on the move and that only has 8GB of ram but I wondered if the reason for the responsiveness of it is the flash storage :/
Baby Boomer was it the 21.5" or the 27" you had upgraded?
The ram upgrade in the UK would cost £140 for an extra 8GB :'(
Thanks again!
