It does run you in circles. You just have to say your reason is one of the given ones (like notebook, or i pod) instead of the real reason and then you get the option for the genius bar. Then you can enter your real reason in the comment section.

It isn't that simple. The Apple site runs you in circles. It IS hard to make an appointment.
