Ill start at a new school this autumn and was wondering if it was an good idea to buy a iPad mini. The school is really focused around presentations so i was thinking to have it as an tool when doing my presentations. Do you think it would work? Maybe i should wait till the next-gen iPad mini comes out?

If it's only for presentations, you might be good buying an iPad mini... but make sure you don't make it your base tool. I mean, have a laptop or other type of computer around to make the presentations that you can transfer to your iPad later... it's way easier.
You can however make presentations on your iPad, but I personally prefer using the iPad as a sort of fancy USB drive ... if you get what I mean.

No. iPads are great consumers of presentations and other applications but they are not great for creating presentations (IMHO).
