Ask Straight Talk as MMS is a carrier feature.
You need to update APN settings. Contact Straight Talk they should be able to help you.
Now that StraightTalk is a supported CDMA carrier, they no longer support GSM iPhones on their network. You may be able to find an answer in there discussion forums.
I have looked at forums to try and find the APN seettings but when I go into setting General and Cellular I dont have a cellular data option?
I Called straight talk and they told me to bring my iphone over it had to be an At&t iphone which I have. I dont want to jailbreak my iphone like what I see most people say to do. I have no desire to opening my phone up like that. there has to be a way to send picture mail. I know others do with straight talk. Seems like you get what you pay for here they are not much help for sure
Did you try to google your problem? I just did out of curiosity and find that you have a lot of company out there who cannot use MMS either.
Yeah I have been on Goggle so much I am going back through a lot of the same. Seems like I have to either jailbreak the phone or do a sim swap with a tmobile sim to do it. Just seems like that should not be the case.
The Tmobile sim swap will no longer work as Tmobile is now a supported carrier. If you want to sucessfully use StraightTalk, the only supported answer is to buy a StraightTalk iPhone.
Tim I understand what you are saying by buying a straight talk iphone just frustrating that they told me my At&t iphone would work but now not all the features will work.
iOS does support custom APN settings however the setting menu for this is SIM card dependent and many mobile virtual network cards fail to have the required protocols to view this menu option.
That's why you don't see it.
Your operator needs to send you a SMS config file with the correct APN settings which you open on your iPhone and reboot to install.
Whoever told you that was working off of outdated information (or they told you that quite a while ago). I believe if you double check their documentation, you will find that not any AT&T compatible phone will work... They never actually specified that a GSM iPhone, be it AT&T or otherwise, was supported.
Even if you do get them to give you a file with the correct APN settings, you will find that you have to continually 'fix' it as the phone will keep re-setting to the AT&T APN settings since they are piggybacking on the AT&T network.
Not so the config files are stored on the phone .
In fact if you run an OSx server you can create your own config files for company phones.
I'm not understanding your point... StraightTalk piggybacks on the AT&T network. The entire problem arises because the phone doesn't know that it's not on AT&T, so the APN settings revert to AT&T standard. I seriously doubt the OP has an OS X server... If they did, I would imagine they might have had the resources to figure this out already.
Again the operator CAN create the config file and send as an SMS . This config file contains the correct settings.
You just open the SMS and it auto installs in the phones config bundle
You then boot the phone down and reboot .
It really is simple however many MVNO services can't be a**ed -that why their cheap!
Not in dispute with you on the problem - yes it's the APN defaulting to ATT and being blocked as a non- subscriber. And compounded by the MVNO Sim card not having the correct protocols to view the APN menu item.
OK... That clarifies things...
The MVNO could fix it... if they really wanted to.
I imagine it's a combination of A) They are now a supported CDMA carrier. They don't want foreign iPhones on their network. And B) We're talking about a phone company run by Wal*Mart... You really expect them to know or care?
