The desktop image on my mac shows its file name. How do I get rid of that?

After I installed Earth 3D screen saver, the images shown as my desktop background are now showing a large tag with the filename, path included, of the image. How do I get rid of that tag?

Non-resident mac screen savers are not recommended in general. Would remove the screen saver without question.

Says who? I've been using 3rd party screensavers since the 20th century 😝 on all of my Macs. Never had any problems. The App Store has quite a few I might add. They even have those "live" screensavers!

You do not mention from where you downloaded the screensaver from. If repairing permissions and restarting the computer does not get rid of the tag - watermark?...........

If I were you, I would uninstall & trash the file along with any plist & straggler files.

Re-download the screensaver from another website, after installation repair permissions and restart the computer.

I did remove the offensive screensaver which, by the way, came from non other than the App Store. It did not solve the issue and I stll have that jideous path showing on my desktop wallpaper image.

Judging from the pic in your original post, you have quite a few files on your desktop. Suggest that you limit the amt of files on your desktop or keep them in your Dock or put all inside of folders. I did notice a few Safari files. You can even hide your HD if you want.

To hide the HD: Finder>General>Show these items on the desktop. Uncheck Hard disc.

After doing the above, try the following: Trash the finder plist file which is located: Option>Finder>Go>Library>Preferences. Repair permissions and restart the computer. Please post back the results.

Can you post the website link of the desktop pics for others to check?

Hi and thanx Baby Boomer for replying!

Since that original post I did optmized the amount of stuff showing on my desktop. I tried your suggestion only to find that there is no com.apple.finder.plist file at that location, nor anywhere else, so maybe that could be an issue. The question now is how do I create one or how does Mavericks takes care of that issue?

Please correct your system profile so that you can receive the correct troubleshooting info. It is showing---> OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Disregard my previous suggestions because you do not have ML.

Will request that a HOST move this entire thread to the Maverick forum.
