iTunes problems

I got a new computer, not new but, another computer that's terrible, but still another computer, and i downloaded the new iTunes, i have an iPhone 3g and its all updated. So i plug my phone into the computer to put music on it and when i click on the iPhone button, a thing pops up and says, iTunes has stopped working and closes and then sends me this

iTunes has stopped working properly.

A newer version of this software is available for download that solves this problem. Apple Inc. recommends updating to take advantage of security and stability improvements.

But I downloaded iTunes again and it still did the same thing, so its updated, what do I do? (I have vista)

Windows Vista
