Aug 14, 2013 5:58 AM in response to Reini-Wienby Haasome,Hi Reini-Wien,
This is happening to me as well. I first noticed it on my iPad this morning when my black/grey "work" calendar displayed as purple. I did a hard shut down on the iPad and then restarted it -- and it displayed as black/grey. Then when I got to work, my "work" calendar changed from black/grey (which is a custom color) to purple automatically. It changed back to black/grey with some unexplainable clicking around. I suspect this behavior has something to do with the iCloud server and I'm hoping this goes away by some server magic.

Aug 14, 2013 7:12 AM in response to Reini-Wienby iPod 60Gb Black,Sorry I can't help but I wanted to add to the thread as I'm having exactly the same problem and also only since today.. I have 7 calenders and two of them ('Work' & 'Home') seem to be doing their own thing with regard to colours. They seem to vary between their original colours (blue and red respectively), blue and purple and it seems to change each time I open the calendar. At first I thouht it was BusyCal on the Mac but it's happening on the Mac, iPad and iPhone now. Even resetting the colours on iCloud hasn't helped.
Anyone from Apple listening who can help us out?

Aug 14, 2013 7:23 AM in response to iPod 60Gb Blackby Haasome,Here is one bit of predictable behavior that I've found. When I open ical on my Mac, the color of my default calendar (work) shows up as purple (which should be black/grey). My Calendar display is in WEEK mode and I see the TODAY bar in the upper right hand corner. If I click on the arrow to advance the calendar to the next week, the color reverts from the oddball purple to my original black/grey that is my normal setting.

Aug 14, 2013 7:23 AM in response to Reini-Wienby fwn,Hi, I'm also having this problem today. Both of my work and personal calendars have changed colour from blue and green to purple and blue respectively. It's happened 4 times today - the first time I quit Calendar and it was fixed on restart, the second and third times I manually changed the colours back, and now it's happened again. Must be a server side issue?

Aug 14, 2013 7:28 AM in response to Reini-Wienby iPod 60Gb Black,Interesting that the colour change to blue and purple seem universal. I just tried turning iCloud calendars off and back on on my iPad and it seemed to work so I did the same thing on my phone... Epic fail.

Aug 14, 2013 9:09 AM in response to Reini-Wienby what5150,I'm having the same issue. My work Cal is green, it will change to purple on my iMac, MBP, iPhone and iPad. This must be an iCloud problem.

Aug 14, 2013 11:33 AM in response to Reini-Wienby Carlsbadfamilyacu,Same here - just started happening this morning. I don't mind dealing with it as long as I don't lose data. I went off ical last year because it started moving appointments (as I watched....) randomly - can you imaging how that can mess up your work day.... To be clear, this isn't happening now - just the color changes, but it worries me all the same...
Hopefully someone at apple is on this!

Aug 14, 2013 1:13 PM in response to Reini-Wienby keessie,Same problem here. My Work calendar (shared) turned from (standard?) green into purple. When I do Cmd-I on an event, it changes to green. After a few of these changes, all events are green. But after a few minutes, all are purple again. It always starts with the color of the checkbox in the Calendar list. Then the events follow suit.

Aug 14, 2013 1:54 PM in response to Reini-Wienby jsiess11,I am new to posting but thought I'd contribute only to back everyone up to say I'm having the exact same problem. I have no clever fix, but I can confirm that 2 of my many calendars are doing the same thing. The others are fine, but the one I keep for my husband's travel should be MOCHA (from crayon color palette) but it keeps changing to PURPLE (default color). The one I have for my own appointments should be EGGPLANT (from crayon color palette) but keeps changing to BLUE (default color). My other calendars are fine like I said and use colors from the crayon color palette so I'm guessing that's not the issue.

Aug 14, 2013 2:01 PM in response to Haasomeby santafekate,I found the same thing to be true as Haasom reported. If i move forward a week in the calendar, the colors change back to correct ones. I believe it must be an iCloud problem.
