Past purchases when changing country?

Hey everybody,

I am about to Change the Region of my iTunes Account from Germany to USA. But what will Happen to all the music, Movies, tv Shows and Books i purchases in the German store? Will I just get the US-Version for all my purchases - as long as they are available in the US-Store - and have them in the itunes Cloud? Or will they vanish Forever? I know that your Apps will Carry over but I am Not sure about my Media Content..

Your purchases are tied to a specific Apple ID, which is not transferable to another country's store. When you move to the USA you'll have to create a new Apple ID for that iTunes Store. You will still be able to access the German store by logging in with that ID to re-download past purchases, but be aware if you do you may lock yourself out of the other Apple ID/iTunes Store for 90 days.

I'm sorry, but I am pretty sure that you can change the Region in the itunes Account settings in the Desktop App or on your ios device with"view Apple id". So it Would still be the Same Account only tied to the US store instead of the German one

Purchased content is country specific. So even if you the exact same app is available in both stores, if you purchased it in the German store, it will NOT show up as purchased in the USA store (one thing governing that is taxes and tariffs specific to each country).

Yes, you can change stores without creating a new AppleID by changing the billing address and payment information for your account, but your purchases in other country's stores do not move with your AppleID when you change stores - they remain tied to your account in each specific country.

You can access previously purchased content on different country stores. It's as simple as logging out of one account and logging into the other. However, because of iTunes Store restrictions if you do download any past purchases you may lock yourself out of the other account for 90 days. See this Apple KB article for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

Keep in mind that the iTunes in the Cloud service is not a backup service and should not be relied on as such. It is your responsiblity to backup all your purchases. So it is strongly recommened that you download all the purchases you have made in the Gerrman iTunes Store and backup them up to an external HDD for safekeeping.

The restrictions are in place to abide by local laws and copyrights.
