I just purchased a Canon PIXMA MX512 and I cannot get the MP Driver to install. I tried several techniques with the Canon technicians - using Disk Utility to repair the disks, installing with a test account, etc. The technician said there could be something in my preferences that prevents it from installing. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!
Ok, so after an hour of calls with Canon tech support, a Twitter friend gave me the answer:
"With the add printer dialog box open, launch Software Update to check for new print drivers."
Bickety Bam, the driver was there, and my printer is now working!
What Mac Hardware are you using? I've been able to install the printer drivehardware, but according to Canon Support there is no scanner driver that works on a PowerPC Mac (in my case a Dual processor 2.0 GHz G5). The TWAIN driver supplied in the software package with the MX512 will only work on an Intel processor, and the have no ICA (Apple Image Capture Architecture) driver available for it either. How did you get the scanner to work?
