I had the same issue and was able to resolve it.
There is no way to recover the password, but if you know the where you created the "hidden" folders, you can use the following steps:
1. Open Terminal
2. Enter command: killall Finder
3. Enter command:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
and hit enter
4. Now open the location that contains hidden folder/files, you will see them grayed out and locked.
5. Copy to another location and unlock the files
This will of course work only of you have an idea of where the files were stored.
Hope this help!
Hi Viksmaester,
Thanks for the solution. This fixed my problem.
But i don't know how to unlock the greyed out folders, could you help me fix this?
Thanks
If you are able to
on the folder of interest go the the very bottom section Get Info
.Sharing and Permissions
You can gain access to this area by clicking on the lock in the lower right corner of the
window.Get Info
Once you have input the admin password for the computer you should be able to edit the permissions on that file/directory.
