my ipod is an ipod nano 3rd generation i have left the battery to drain for 24hrs and connected it again but it doesnt even appear in the computer i dont knwo what to do now? can someone help?

Latest itunes? Or just take it to an Apple Store, or Hey i just thought this: maybe a broken or not working cable??
I think I'm going to take it to the apple store because i checked the cable its fine...and well i have the latest itunes
