Can I import music from a very old iPod into my new iTunes account for use on my iPhone and iPad?

I have a very old iPod. The laptop with iTunes crashed years ago. I now have an iPhone and a new iPad with no music on them, or in my iTunes library. Can I sync my old iPod with my new iTunes account and get my music onto my 2 new devices? All of my iPod music was loaded onto my iPod from CD's. What will happen if I connect my iPod to my compter? Please be specific with instructions..........I am far from tech savvy. Thank you.
