iTunes won't take my card

I have an amex gift card with 5-6 dollars left on it, and when I submit the card into iTunes, it declines it. I have done this before on iTunes and I am positive the card works. Now that iTunes declines the card I put in, I can't download or update any music or apps unless I input a credit card.

I don't have a credit card, and I am away, which means I am not near a computer to chose the "none" option for credit cards.

Unless there is a way to chose "none" on my iPhone, I would like to find out why iTunes won't accept my card and fix it.
