Unable to send or receive email. I have tried rebooting my iPad, tried cancelling my email account clearing history and cookies reset email account. Nothing is working. Help please!!!

Unable to send or receive emails. Saying server not connected. I have tried rebooting, tried cancelling email account, clearing history and clearing cookies then resetting my email account. Nothing! All that happens is have lost all my folders! Help!

iPad, iOS 6.1.4

MicroSoft Outlook was down for most of the day that day and the mobile section was not repaired till the wee hours of the morning. All is back in service now, but some of your settings may need to be changed if you have made modifications in the past few weeks. There appears there was some data loss. Several of my contacts reverted back to old phone numbers and I.D. pictures, but for the most part back up and functioning.
