I have installed OS X Mountain LION on my MacBook Pro 13" and cannot open anymore Microsoft Word or Excel ? Could you help me with this problem? Thank you.

What version of Office are you running? ML only supports 2008 and above.
What is the error message that occurs when you try?
If your version of MS Office is older than 2008 you need to upgrade to the latest version, 2011 for compatibility with Mountain Lion. While 2008 should work, there have been users having problems with that version.
The error message is:
"Impossible to open "Microsoft Word" application because PowerPC applications are not anymore taken into account"
You need to upgrade to a newer version that is not written for PPC
Either Office for Mac 2008 or 2011
Or using OpenOffice for free

You need a newer version of MS Office, or a free substitute such as Libre Office or Open Office. Do not purchase Pages or Numbers, the free alternatives are superior.
I am using Microsoft office 2004
As others have said you need to upgrade your MS Office or try an alternative, like iWork or one of the free apps.

Ignore iWork.
Why suggest "ignore iWork"? I use iWork exclusively now, since dumping MS Office and I like it.
I agree, Pages has all the functionality I need and is compatible, and Keynote blows away PowerPoint.

On its own it's fine, as a replacement for Office it's mediocre. Unable to save in Office format you are pushed into exporting (extra steps) simply to create an Office compatible file. Pages barely renders a Word document correctly (a trait also shared by Libre/Open Office). Numbers is a very poor substitute for Excel (the free ones are better).
And for all this you are expected to pay, whereas the other alternatives do a better job (with MS Office files) without a financial insult.
If Office is not in the equation I recommend iWork.

And if you have Excel files you'll be bitterly frustrated by Numbers.
Since I only use Pages and Keynote...can't argue the Numbers question. But I sure like Keynote.
I don't use Keynotes, or Word so I have a different perspective. 🙂
And I can't use Numbers because it can't.
