Q: I have iMAC with 10.8 and 10.7 on two different partitions, whenever i am trying to turn it on its giving me beep sound on regular intervals and then nothing happens. Please Help!!

I am getting beeps at regular intervals whenever i am turning the computer on

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Welcome to Apple Support Communities

If you get three beeps, then stop, and after that other three beeps, the RAM is damaged.

Get other RAM for your computer at OWC or Crucial > http://www.macsales.com Make sure you get the correct memory and install it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1423?viewlocale=en_US

If your iMac is in warranty, take it to an Apple Store or reseller and it will be repaired for free

Thanks for your prompt response, are you sure because i have updated my MAC with some internal software updates and after that it showing me this behavior. Is there any other workaround apart from replacing the RAM.

Do you remember which the update was? If it was a firmware update, it may have corrupted your computer. Reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
