iphone back cover pinhead sized chips

My iphone has silver chips all down the metal back cover is there a sollution to stopping this happening or replacing the back cover ? as i have tried to take it back to the store under apple warranty but they want £179 to replace it so a cheaper option would help as i have had this iphone in a case from the day i bought it and dont want to spend this amount of money if i have to keep on replacing the back cover every few months any advice to this question would be helpfull .😎

If Apple wanted to charge you for the replacement they ,having seen the iPhone , believe it is user damage regardless of your claim to having it in a case

There is clearly something you are doing that has caused it

Mine has been in a case since last Sept and it is in pristine condition

Dust and dirt can get inside a case easily enough. When it does, the constant rubbing and pressure of the case on the phone, with the dirt in-between, is enough to easily scratch the back of the phone. It's just cosmetic damage.

Thankyou for your replys, i thought i read somewhere that the iphone 5 was prone to this happening , i am obviosly wrong and my case has caused this problem i had bought a quite expensive £45 well known branded case for it as well but will not be using it in the future thankyou for your replys
