For starters, update to OS 10.8.4. Use the App Store/Software Update to update everything else that goes along w/it.

I just wanted to make sure that I have taken any and all of the necessary precautions in order to make my Macbrook Pro as secure as possible.
Here are some ideas on Hardening Mountain Lion.
As far as the built in firewall is concerned, you only need to have it on when using an un-trusted network such as at Starbucks, the public library or college campus. At home or work your router will adequately protect you as long as you use a strong WPA2 password. Turning the MPB firewall on in the latter case is redundant and will slightly slow your internet access. See Do I need a firewall?.
