Can I set up Jabber on ipod Messages app?

My guess is that this is not possible, but here's my situation:

I work at a manufacturing plant where I want to communicate via chats between computers in the office and ipods out in the warehouse. I have an ipod that I want to set up for this "work setting." I know I could create an AppleID and use the iMessages to communicate between the ipod and computers. However, if we set up iMessages... then chats could come from everywhere - and I'd love to keep the chats "all business" if you know what I mean. We have a server where we currently use Jabber to send chats between computers. Is it possible on an ipod to only use jabber over the Messages App without setting up an AppleID?
