Adding to iCal from Apple Mail

I've encountered a problem with Apple Mail and iCal. The great thing is that I am able to create new iCal events by scrolling over a date/time entry in an email and adding the event to my iCal with the time and subject already configured. The issue I've run into is when an email specifies GMT time, iCal interprets 9:00 AM GMT-3 as 6:00 AM. Is there currently a way to force iCal to recognize GMT and configure the correct time?
