website addresses are often not read

My Mac pro often doesn't seem to read website addresses fully in the address bar. it goes as far as a few

characters and suddenly quits reading the address. not all sites, however. I am not sure what settings I am

supposed to adjust.

I've looked in network preferences but I have no idea what anything wrong would actually look like, and no

idea how to reset anything there. Would somebody please help? Thank you.
