hope someone can help me figure out what is wrong. I did the connection doctor and it says to check my SMTP settings. I think they are correct. Apple store says its comcast. Comcast has been no help..they only change the ports. help!

What are your current outgoing settings?
I am not even sure where to look for this. I know its under preferences. Account information...but it just says outgoing offline..If i try to change it to the other drop down and save it, it won't save.
Sorry..this is confusing.
Click the dropdown, and go to "Edit SMTP server list...", then select account information/advanced tab to view the outgoing settings
ok..got it..i did see this before too..there are 3 lines..the outgoing line says smtp.comcast.net as the server name.
in use by comcast.net
The other two lines say the same (but no outgoing)
all three lines have alert symbols.

Okay. Well, you can set up yahoo mail directly to work with your mail client (Apple Mail), or you can forward yahoo mail to your comcast email address, and set up comcast email to work in your Apple Mail.

Thanks so much! I think this worked! Since I am using Comcast mail, I deleted two of the servers and that seems to have resolved the conflict. Noe the Coneection Doctor says all connections are good!

well--- i guess i spoke too soon! lol....was fine for a day and now same problem..however, did a bit of searching here and thinking it may be a safari problem...( i did reset it no results)...I found this:

and now my question to you is- if i disable Ipv6 as this post states, will it cause any harm if if dosen't work? that is - can i just go back and put it back to automatic if need be? I am not even sure what this is but willingly to try it.
