Q: Safari does not display full URL

Safari 6.0.5 will not display full URL until I click in the URL Location bar.  For example, the full URL of this page is:

https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/question-post!input.jspa?containe rType=14&container=2131&fromWidget=true&question=Safari%20does%20not%20display%2 0full%20URL

However, in my Safari location bar it displays only the domain level path, i.e.:

https://discussions.apple.com

Is this new behavior a featue or a bug?  Is there any way to make it display the full URL as it has since the beginning of time?

Thanks!

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion

    Try deleting the Safari

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Ther rest of the URL is there, but it's rendered in light gray and may be hard to see.

Thank you, but sorry, did not change the behavior.  I also performed a full reset, but again no change.

Thanks, I've seen grayed out strings before.  But in this case, only the domain name is displayed until I click in to the location bar.  When I click out of the location bar, the URL reverts to just the domain.

Above is screen cap of this page in Safari showing that only domain in location bar.

Below is screen cap after inserting cursor into location bar -- note full URL is then visible.

From the Safari menu bar, select

    Safari Preferences Extensions

Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

I can confirm having had this very same bug on:

    - a 27" iMac (Glims extension installed)

    - a late 2013 MacBook Air (Pocket extension installed)

It appeared with Safari 6.0.5 and is seemingly random.

It also disappeared for no apparent reason on the MBA, without even having quit the browser.

I have the exact same problem. Safari 6.0.5 on OS X 10.8.5 with update 1.

On stackexchange a solution mentioned was to log out and back in. That worked for me just now, but there was also a mention that the behaviour will/might return.

Without discussing details (relevant information has been published by Apple): beta testers of Yosemite who view the hiding of addresses as a bug in Safari should use Feedback Assistant to report the problem.

    Thanks

I will provide feedback through the Feedback Assistant, but I am having a problem at the other end of the URL.  I would like to see the "HTTPS://" I was having weird response to a site that I was trying to load and finally discovered that it was adding HTTPS://www.  when it should have been HTTP://.
