Q: Using iPad as SatNav

If I use my iPhone 5 as a personal hotspot to connect my iPad 3 (Wi-Fi only), will the GPS functions work on the iPad like they do when connected to a landline broadband service? I used to have an HTC Desire which tethered to my iPad for data purposes no problem but wouldn't allow location services or GPS to work. I have noticed the symbol has changed to a chain link style icon when I tether my iPhone and was wondering what the difference s, and if it will now share the location services as well as the data connection?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.1.3, Also iPhone 5 on iOS 6.13

    you could try but

if you ask me then I doubt it would work

unless an app is using the gps then the iphoen turn it off otherwise it would run out of batt quickly

acting as a hotspot also use a lot of batt so if acting as a hotspot would also access the gps to provide it to the clients then hotspot would use a lot more batt still
