Go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and check the box for gujarati and gujarati qwerty, plus the box for Keyboard Viewer, plus the box for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar.

Then go to the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen and select Keyboard Viewer and then select the gujarati layout you want. Keyboard viewer will show you the mappings of the keys.

If you have other questions, just ask again.

the key mappings do not show all the characterset that the Gujarati language requires particular the half characters.

All modern computers create Gujarati and other Indic scripts using the system established by Unicode 20 years ago. In this system, half characters (for example in conjuncts) are made by typing the virama between the two characters. Virama is the F key in Gujarati qwerty and the D key in Gujarati.

If there is something specific you cannot make, say what it is and I may be able to help.

PS MS Word for Mac has never supported Indic scripts, so there is no point in trying to use that. Any other app, including OpenOffice, should work OK.
