Prohibitory sign at startup, nothing working

My MacBook doesn't start up anymore; it shows a prohibitory sign immediatly after i turn it on, no apple, no nothing.

It doesn't work with pressing option at start or holding x key; nothing works. what is wrong? I suspect a drive failure, cuz it's 6yr old (macbook2,1)

but it ran beatifully before i rebooted 😟. It's out of warranty too. I cannot even boot into safe mode. I have reset PRAM (to no avail). What can i do? 😟

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 2.16GHz

Extra info; i did some partitioning before, can this be the problem? i also don't have any cd's or things like that, cuz i bought it on ebay. 😟

The OS X partition was corrupted, but there can be other things. There can be something with wrong with your HDD physically. Do you hear any click sounds from the computer? Or you partition can be corrupted like my incidence.
