I tried to find my iPad through find my iPad device on my iPhone It says device is offline I am also given option to lock the iPad ZIf I do that will I be able to find the device? Will it need to go online and not do so once I lock it in lost mode

I am trying to find my lost iPad using my iPhone and the findmyipad application

My iPad is listed but cannot be located now because it is not connected to Internet

I have option to lock the iPad in lost mode If I do that I fear that will make it impossible for the iPad to go online and thus Renee the application to find it useless Please advise

You cannot lock or find the device until it comes online. You can schedule a lock sequence to be sent once the device is online. That's it. Furthermore, if whoever finds the device completely erases it, then even when it comes online you will not be able to track it.

If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you.
