While unlocking the iphone 4, got message in itunes "Welcome to your new iphone".
Should I now Set up as new iphone or restore from an earlier backup?
This is my 2nd try...in the 1st try (restored from earlier backup) I did not recieve any note in itune saying that my phone is unlocked.
Please help!!!!!

How are you unlocking the phone?
I am using itunes -
1. I took a backup to my computer
2. Restored to Factory settings
3. When I saw message "Welcome to your new iphone", I selected "Restore from Backup"
4. The iphone was restored, but there was no message in itune mentioning that my iphone 4 was unlocked!!!!!

I just restored as new..
and now am trying to restore from backup...
However I still did not see the "Congratulations, your iphone has been unlocked message"!
Just completed restore from backup now...
Phone restored...but no message that phone has been unlocked!!
After the restore were you ever prompted to download and install network carrier settings?
yes....but I cancelled it.
That was the unlock, disconnect the iphone then reconnect if you are not prompted again to install the network carrier update then restore to factory settings again and this time download and install that carrier update.
I disconnected and re-connected. I was prompted to download the carrier settings and I did so....
However nothing happened after that...no message etc in itunes
Can you help with my query?
When you saw this screen (except with "iPhone" and not "iPod"), you clicked "Set Up as New," correct?
My iphone finally got unlocked!

You were correct...it worked.....I restored to factory again and then updated the carrier settings...
this helped me to see the confirmation message that the phone was unlocked.
Now I restored from older backup.
Worked perfectly.....thanks for the tips!!
