I understand that you are having issues playing content on a secondary computer with iTunes. I'm curious to know if you transferred your iTunes library to this secondary laptop? If so, the files may not have transferred correctly and may be misplaced. The following article provides information on linking lost content:

As for your second question, you may want to look into enabling Automatic Downloads:

Aug 20, 2013 3:50 PM in response to matt00by Nittany78,i did not transfer them from anywhere i simply had itunes on one computer and wanted it on another computer so i could choose whichever computer i wanted on vacation i simply went online and downloaded itunes to the second computer i didnt misplace them i didnt transfer them incorrectly i did nothing my nephew tells me that i will have to subscribe to itunes match to gain access to them call me crazy but i something fundamentally wrong with having to pay someone to gain access to the tunes i added to my library from my cd collection my solution is to delete the malfunctioning itunes from the second computer and use the one on the older computer that is not experiencing this issue and just avoid newer versions of itunes that might force me to have to hand over more money to apple
