how to restore documents to my ipad

Ive lost some documents from pages thru the clouds when my phone could not update because of space. I thought it was safe because it was on the Ipad but I was wrong. Is there any way to get it back.

Madalynn,

You might find the docs on your Mac Mini. Do you have it synced to iCloud?

But doesnt the iCloud erase everythime it update?
