Ipad screen is dark, it lights up but dark

Try this and see if it will react to touch and allow you to use it.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up

Try this. It seems you have nothing to lose. Search this discussion group for "Black screen" and "Red screen." Read the testimonials.

Turn your iPad face down on your lap and spank the back a few times with the palm of your hand, checking to see if the screen returns to normal. If not, spank with increasing firmness, again, checking from time to time.

This has worked for both the "red screen" problem and the "black screen." It seems something came loose when it fell. If it works, handle it gently, as the loose part might once again shift.

DUUUUDE the smacking worked for me. My ipad had no light at all. I could hear emails coming in but no light ever came on, not even apple logo (and i did all kind of restorations). Basically, I just put my iPad 2 on my lap screen faced down and smacked it hard, it didnt work at first, so i kept "spanking" harder with my palm and then it began working! I almost cried from joy. THANK YOU spanking advisers.

PS this is sad that so much of us experienced this. Tsk tsk tsk Apple..

I don't mean to offend but did you try going to settings and go to brightness and wallpaper and bring the brightness level to full

The smacking won't work for me help! My screen is black and a l white bar going back and forward but not the the way help

I had the same problem and spanking my bad iPad worked too!
