I have read through all the links Kappy listed, but saw nothing that answered 'Sophie/'s Mom 12's initial question. Maybe I'm missing something?  I've only seen the instruction to "Enter your Apple ID and password that you use for the iTunes Store", but for my husband & me also, that would mean entering different Apple IDs.   Does this mean that we cannot use 'Home Share', or do we both use my or his Apple ID, or do we create a third Apple ID that is the same for both of us?  ie: how do we enter the same Apple ID for Home Share if our Apple IDs are different?

Also, I am now confused by what my Apple ID is:  I could only sign in to this Dicussion by entering my email address in the window requesting my Apple ID, and by entering the Apple ID I use for signing in to iTunes in the window asking for my Password.  I'd be grateful if someone could explain this also.

Yes there is a solution ... I had the same issue and came here for the fix   . Oh well, I worked it out:

1 you can sign on to the iTunes Shared Network with another valid iTunes username and P/W eg yours or hubbies. (File - Home Sharing)

2 choose who will own the shared network at your home, and if all users use that network and it's Username & P/W you will be able to share their media if they have authorised your device (and visa versa) under (Store - Authorise This Computer) with the shared username and P/W for a max of 5 devices on the home network. For mobile devices, you will have to provide this data on he device in question when you try to join the shared network.

3 Note: each person will retain and use their own Apple U/N and P/W in the Apple Store on their PC

Hope that is clear ... A shared U/N & P/W of the shared home network, authorise each other's devices from iTunes and other devices whilst  retaining individual log in to Apple Store iTunes  using own U/N & P/W

Ironically, your own media may occur under the name 'This User' on say an Apple TV remote.
