Q: Latest Version of Itunes wiped all my music?

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes today. After clicking on the Itunes store, and then the "Purchased" tab, Itunes asked me to sign in with my Apple ID. I did so, and then began loading music to my library off of cd's. When I looked at my music tab, there were a few albums/singles that it said I need to download from the cloud, and the rest of my music had been wiped. Previous purchases, and over 1,500 songs downloaded from cd's are gone. I looked at my previous iTunes libraries folders, and the latest one is from July 11, so it would be missing most of my music. Is there anything I can do to recover all of it? I have most but not all of the music on my iPod.
