Q: where do i find the mpeg -2 codec?

quicktime  wont play .mov files since upgrade os to 10.8.4

 

It produces error message & page of codecs with no help at all.

 

What does one do to get quicktome playing .mov again?

 

It plays MP4 files.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3), 21 inch
