I would like to use an ipad or ipad mini as a movie recorder and capture the audio at the same time, but rather than use the headphone jack, I want to use the doc connector. I already have a USB mic and the camera kit to hook it up, but I can't find an app that will allow me to shut off the internal mic and select an external source for audio.
Does anyone know of one ?
Plugging an external microphone into the headphone jack cuts off the internal microphones... I don't believe you can do it by software. If there was an app to do it, you wouldn't be able to simultaneously run your recording app.
I do not want to use the headphone/mic jack. I want to get the better quality audio from the doc connector. I understand there are audio recording apps that allow you to chose. I'm looking for a video recorder that does the same thing. If an audio app can do it, then it must be able to be changed via software.
Can I re-open this thread? I have a similar, but potentially more complicated, question. I am looking to record a video conference/meeting via iPad. I am hosting meetings using WebEx on my iPad and want to be able to record both the audio and video of that meeting. This presents the conflict of trying to use the built-in microphone to pick up my voice for the other meeting participants to hear, and to pick up my voice for recordings. In addition to this, I'd like to record my iPad screen. I've found apps (Reflector) that can record my iPad's screen, but as soon as I open WebEx and connect my audio to the internet (via microphone) the entire Reflector App shuts down, stops recording and the WebEx app stalls. Any suggestions? Should I get a doc connector for the iPad to connect a microphone? That way I have the iPad microphone and the doc-to-USB connected microphone? I doubt there are apps that can do this audio, video, screen recording without a little help (i.e., extra microphone). Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I did not get any quick replies and I had other support tasks come up, so I could not continue searching. I hope there is a solution, as our Band teachers could out this to good use, and better audio is important.
Thanks for the response! Yeah I hope there's a solution too, I could really use some help in figuring this out as it would make my job a lot easier and it would help give meeting participants access to the material covered in our meetings if they happen to miss anything.
