I tunes running slow and intermittent on windows vista

I have had I tunes on windows vista for several years. The past two days the library runs very very slow. when i select a song it plays a short time then stops and this keeps repeating. It keeps saying rebuffering stream. I purchased 2 songs tonight and it said it would take 11 minutes to download. HELP
