Q: how can i set up a normal lap top to the time capsual?? its not a MAC or apple.? but wont read the network?

I am having difficulty connecting my old laptop to the Time Capsual. it doesnt recognise the network??

    The Time Capsule uses industry 802.11 standards, so any wireless device should connect. You might want to work your way through the Windows guide for troubleshooting WiFi connections:

    Contacting the support site for your particular brand of PC might be another angle.

    Really need more information here to help.

     

    What OS are you using? Does it have a valid IP stack and network profile? You say that it is not Windows or OSX which would point either to Linux or something else which would need to have its networking stacks configured correctly before connections to external devices can be made.

     

    As a general rule, I try to get onto the Internet before trying to connect to local drives. If you can do this, then your IP stack and routing tables are correct as well as DNS etc. If you cannot, then you need to correct this before trying to get onto the TC.
