Why does Safari ends up in the trash after shutdown?

On my IMAC 10.5.8, Safari went a little safari of it own after I shut down last night. This AM Safari was in the trash. How it got there, I have no idea. Lately, the Safari icon on the dock will disappear & I'll retreive it from applications. But going to the trash? Does anyone have any idea or even heard of this before? Thanks, Paul😕

Hi, cdlsel2.

If you are able to open Safari from the applications folder, Safari is installed. You can set the browser as a docked icon via the steps below.

Mac Basics: Customize the Dock

The icon you located in the trash could be an older version or installer package.

Hope that helps,

Jason H.
