how do I delete an icon, not an app, from launchpad in Mountain Lion

I want to delete an icon, but not the app itself, from the launchpad of my MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4. How can I do that?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

You can't do that in Launchpad. You can create a separate group for "unwanted" apps to keep them out of the way, but clicking Delete will always delete the app itself from your system (provided it's an App Store app; you cannot delete applications that were installed independently).

Not sure from your description if this is what you are doing but it is possible to create folders of apps in launchpad. If you drag one icon on top of another then those two icons will be in a folder. Then you drag other icons on top of the folder they will be added to it and removed from the main view.

This might be a cleaner solution then adding the unwanted apps to new page.
