No week numbers in the iOS calendar!

Hi. In Denmark and many other European contries you use week numbers alot. Both in business life and in private life. I like the iOS alot but one thing that really weighs down on the scale is the lack of these week numbers. It is not difficult for Apple to implement this in the existing calendar. Some contries use different standards but this should not take Apple more than five minutes to figure out.

I really hope that Apple will implement week numbers in iOS7 as a standard.

Does anyone from Apple even read this- or am I wasting my time? 😝

Sincerely

Sure, but that's a hack.

Except it's not a hack.

According to the link, «In this calendar each week number is a week-long event. If you want shorter events (for example, only Mondays), please visit webcal.fi/en/ and personalize your subscription.». Having a week-long event that shows a week number isn't the same thing as built-in feature. For instance the Calendar.app on Mac OS has a built-in option that allows one to put a numbered label on each week, an option that the iOS calendar lacks. According to the Mac built-in British English dictionary, a hack can be «a piece of computer code which performs some function, especially an unofficial alternative or addition to a commercial program». I'd say this is a hack, unless I'm fundamentally misunderstanding something. But we can agree to disagree.

I was just reporting that the iOS calendar now has this feature built in

Except it doesn't.

It should in the future.

This followed my original comment where I said «iOS 8 brings it» [this feature], but maybe it wasn't clear. Yes, iOS 8 is not out yet for the public, I agree, and I did not pretend to say it was. But the latest iOS 8 beta does include that functionality and I merely wanted to convey this information with my post – it was clear from your almost year-old posting that there is a solution to the original question.

Deggie and ChrisJ4203 – this feature has been revealed publicly elsewhere:

Calendar - There are new options for alternate Calendars, including Chinese, Hebrew, and Islamic. There's also an option to display week numbers. Calendar events can also be declined with a comment. (in http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ios-8-features/)

Here's another location stating the same: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/whats-new-in-ios-8-for-ipad-i phone-ipod-touch/.

I am not aware that posting this here is a violation of the forum's terms of usage, but if deemed so, I'd be glad to have a moderator remove my comments.

It would have been better had you mentioned those sources earlier, and if you did not post that it was in the beta. If you are a developer as stated, you signed an NDA that states you cannot post information about beta software in a public forum. This portion of the forum is public. You can post questions/comments in the private developer forum. Keeping you honest if you are a registered developer.
