itunes library missing

itunes library missing

I have just purchased a new mac air and have thought I had correctly installed my library BUT I have less songs in my library than I do on my devices - iphone and ipod.

How has this happened and how do I transfer ALL the songs from my iphone to my Library to recover the missing songs!

The same happens with my ipod.

This is very frustrating!

I also have lots of playlist on my devices which do not copy onto my MAC, does this mean I have to start all over again and create these on my PC ? I just want to copy everything to my MAC. HOW?

Did you use Migration Asistant to copy all your user data from old computer to new computer?

Thank you! but how complicated. Can´t I just tell my mac air to read and save all the music stored on my iphone so this becomes my new library instead of having to use migration assistant?

Surely Apple allows us to transfer music from our devices to our macs no?

Otherwise would it be easier to just copy my library once again - that I downloaded onto a usb and is how I uploaded it to my mac the first time.

You aren't interested in any of your user data (settings, emails, contacts, calendars & documents) except for your iTunes music?

You can but not everything transfers. Only iTunes purchases.

Connect the iPhone and open iTunes.

Go to File > Devices, select your iphone then Transfer purchases. Notet that nothing else will transfer over.

Yes, I thought that might be the case. So I can only download purchased tunes from my devices not ALL my music that I spent hours copying from my CD library 😟

I will try the migration assistant as you suggest but yes I ONLY want to recover my itunes library....
