Q: Do I have the right setup to record music?

Hi all,

I'm new to Mac and DAWs so go easy on me!

I've just got my MacBook Pro and Logic Pro X. I already have some third party plugins etc (for MIDI playing), but I would like a mic and the ability to plug my guitar into my MBP and record in Logic. I understand the Apogee One Mic will allow me to do this? As for the guitar sound - do I just plug the guitar into apogee one and play, and it will play the sound live thorugh logic? I understand there are built in guitar sounds/amps in Logic?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Without searching for the info myself, the question to ask, is whether that female 1/4" on the Apogee is for recording a "line level input" or a "guitar level input".

    Maybe it does both? =Great.

If it is for a "line level input" only, then, you need to purchase a D.I (direct injection) box for your guitar. (assuming it's an electric or electro-acoustic)

If we are talking about an unamplified acoustic, use a mic. (onboard?) or through the breakout XLR cable that the Apogee has.

And YES, to all of your other questions, in my opinion, Logic is #2 as far as having the best guitar simulations on the market.

    (#1 is Line 6)
