I have downloaded a program to help read an old works database but it seems to have corrupted some files which now end in .mcf and _mcf-dateien. Does anyone know what these are and what I can do to correct the problem?

Are you saving these files to a non OSX drive, like FAT32 or NTFS? That would be my guess from the _mcf-dateien file.
not sure what FAT32 or NTFS is. What I did was download from a usb stick the original works database file which wouldn't open. I then downloaded a file to try and sort this from zdnet.com.com that is where the problem began. The issues seem to be not opening certain items in iphoto such as certain photobooks.
Are the V files on your internal drive, or on the USB stick?
the files on the internal drive, I think the problem lies when I downloaded the recommended App FTP Client Professional.
Hmmm, why would you be using FTP?
Do the original files not copy to the internal with Drag & drop?
Or were they FTPed to the pen drive?
? Not sure. site advised this action. Nor original files would not copy. I think I have cleared up the problem although lost the books and database by deleting the FTP Client application through safe delete and deleting the other files which ended mcf. Fingers crossed but thanks for you input guys.
