Q: how to change my apple ID on iphone 5

All apps are tied to the Apple ID that obtained them. To update you need to use the same Apple ID.

How to change the Apple ID on my iOS Device

Settings > iTunes & App stores.

Tap your AppleID, sign out then sign back in with new AppleID.

Settings > Messages.

Turn off iMessages the turn it back on with new AppleID.

Settings > iCloud.

Delete the account then turn it back on with new AppleID.

That won't update apps with the old Apple ID.

By "old AppleID" do you mean you got a new one or you updated the old one?

Go to iCloud>delete account, go to previous page, back into iCloud, change apple id

So... basically what I already said?  And the iCloud setting has nothing to do with the App Store/iTunes.

Which sounds like the original AppleID was updated.

That's my guess too, but we'll have to wait for the OP to return and give more specifics.

yes, this works, I had to sign out of my Apple ID on my IPhone and sign back in with my new ID for it to change, thanks for the info.
