Restoration issues

Hello all,

Today I've had an issue with my iPod 5th Gen Classic. I connected it to my computer to import some new songs, then ejected my iPod and evevrything dissapeared. I figured out I needed to restore my iPod, but it would not work on my PC (yes I use a PC). I'm running Windows 8 and can't make heads or tails of why it will restore on every other computer, but not mine.

So with that knowledge, I went and restored it on my Dad's computer running Windows 7, everything was fine until I reconnected it to my computer when the same issue happened. It just wiped my hard drive clean AFTER I imported the songs all over again.

I read on the Apple help page that changing the drive letter can help with non restoring iPods, but I can't figure out HOW to do this on Windows 8.

The error message I kept getting was this:

"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used in iTunes."

Can anyone help me solve this? I really don't want to have to go to my not-so-local Apple store to fix this issue.
