My iPhone search feature brings up text messages and emails that have been deleted. I disabled my icloud account, and all that did was delete all my contacts...

I recently had infedelity issues in my marriage and my husband and I have decided to work through it, but I need to be able to keep things from popping up using my iPhone search. He searches "the other man's" name and can view a few lines of all our text messages, even though those were deleted long ago.

Is there any way to reset this?

If you're really going for a 'fresh start', you could always Erase All Content & Settings, and start it up as a new device.  No restore from any backup.  That way, only information from today on forward would be on the device.

    But that's kind of drastic.

I may have to resort to this...is there a way to keep paid-for apps and things? I think that is all saved in iTunes, and I can then import it to me "fresh new" phone afterwards...?

You're letting your husband have access to your device? Or is he connected on his device to the same icloud account as the one you use on yours?

Disabling your icloud account will remove all data stored by icloud, but by connecting to it again, your data will be restored.

Any purchases of Apps or iTunes are tied to your Apple ID.  You could redownload all of them for free (except ringtones, I think).

You can still sign into the same itunes account, but use a new icloud account.

He has access to my iPhone. If I put a password lock on it, it is like admitting that there is stuff to hide on there. He knows about the texts and emails, but he works himself up when he goes to check them. I just need them to be gone, and so that he can handle my phone without being suspicious or finding stuff from the past

Is there a way to reset my iPhone as a new device but keep my contacts somehow? It seems like I would need to re-sync my iCloud account, but that would defeat the whole purpose and would bring back all my backed-up data? Can I sink to iCloud JUST for contacts?
