    • If you have not already done so, shut down Mac, restart,

       and try again.

    • If the camera still does not work, try all relevant suggestions

       from Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

(Over time, Apple have changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

Be sure to try more than one Apple camera app in more than one user accountDo not use the "Guest" account for user account testing.  If you don't already have multiple accounts, create a new account for this testing. If you need help creating a new user account, see http://support.apple.com/kb/VI32

If the problem is the same in every app you test in every user account you try, be certain that you have used the correct SMC "reset" procedure for your particular MacBook Pro model.

If your problem continues at this point, apply the most recent 10.8 Combo Update (presently 10.8.4 Combo Update).  I suggest that you use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions  immediately before AND again after installing the combo update.  Properly applying the latest combo sometimes resolves software issues whose symptoms are like yours.

If your ONLY trouble in every user account you tested is with Flash-based camera web sites, use your Mac's  > System Preferences ... > Flash > Advanced menu command to verify you have the latest Flash software update that is compatible with your system.  Then check   > System Preferences ... > Flash > Camera and Mic to verify that your Flash settings are not blocking the camera for the site(s) you want.  If you need configuration help, check Adobe Flash Player Help.

If all else fails, make a current backup of your Mac's startup disk. Then contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
