step 3. Make an AFP connection to another system? what system. i dont just have a bunch of macs laying around. any other options?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)
If you have a reason to do what the support article says, then you also have an AFP server. It doesn't have to be a Mac.
